LP Crisis: Ogbaloi Ratification Of Abure 's Suspension Selfish, Irresponsible -- Party Chieftain ... fingers Akpata In the Crisis

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

A Chieftain of the Labour Party, LP,  Comrade Okhilua Osadebamen, aka 'Spartacus'  has described the ratification of the suspension of the National Chairman of the party Julius Abure which came through his Ward and local government  by the former Edo  State chairman of labour party, Kelly Ogbaloi as selfish and irresponsible.

He made this disclosure to the The Groove Watch News  while commenting on the crisis rocking the labour party.

According to him, " whatever he has done to his boss I see it as a fight that bothers on quest to hold on to power at all cost. However, Julius Abure remains the National Chairman of Labour Party. Edo people should consider that fight personal and a fight started by one man who is acting a script that has been waiting to be hatched by the Governorship candidate of the party, Olumide Akpata".

He further alleged that labour party had never been divided in this manner, adding that division came into the party the moment Olumide Akpata came into the party. He said he equally believes that every party has its own challenges.

He described the candidate of having a wharpped idea that every other person in the party should succumb to his tribal agenda of making some people feel that Esan people who are members of the party are not qualified to lead in whatever capacity in Edo State.

"He also came up with the mentality that money can buy the heart and soul of the party members. That is the reason we are having crisis in the party. One wonders how a party whose principles are rooted in justice, equity and fairness, is now working at cross purposes with those same ideas because of the selfishness of some ill-motivated members of the party who erroneously believe they can buy everyone with money".

On the new Exco sworn-in yesterday, Osadebamen praised the action of the National Working Committee, adding that it is the right step towards the right direction. He recalled that the tenure of the Kelly Ogbaloi led Exco has since expired. "It is in line with the constitution for the party's leadership to establish caretaker committee. Whoever that is not satisfied with the action should go to the court of law".

He also recalled how Kelly Ogbaloi had  unilaterally suspended the youth leader Ken Omusi, describing it as smarking of lack of respect for internal party democracy. He added that it simply means that the party  leadership are not abiding by the provisions of the constitution of the party. He said what happened on the 9th of May at the secretariat was like a rebellion by the aggrieved youths and other members of the party.

"Using press conferences and WhatsApp platforms to suspend party members is unconstitutional. The constitution says you must serve such members with a written letter and give him or her a fair hearing through a panel as the constitution demands. My suspension was done through Whatsapp platform through my ward chairman. That is not the way out, especially this period of election when all political parties are making efforts to rally their members in order to garner votes during the election".

Osadebamen however, said that the only way to move the party forward is for the key actors in the party to go back to the constitution and do the right thing in order to save the party from total collapse.
