My wife Was An Epitome Of Gratefulness, Adorably Submissive --Ojeikere

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

It was tributes galore today at St. Jude Catholic Church where a funeral service was organized for late Mrs. Idongesit Ojeikere which was attended by family members,  civil commissioners, members of Civil Society Organizations, friends and well wishes.

In some of the tributes they described Mrs. Ojeikere  as a remarkable person whose life was a testament to love, which clearly reflected in the life of her husband and  relatives.

They also described her as an example of a good Christian who lived a life that added unforgetting memories to relatives and friends.

"She is a daughter of Zion who radiate holiness, righteousness which virtues impacted the lives of her neighbours".

One of the guest described her as a  very remarkable woman who permanently wore radiant and infectious smiles.

"She was an embodiment of an organic modesty all her life. She treasured and revelled in the sparrow of her husband. Apart from the scriptural symbolism of humanity, the sparrow in Scottish Legend depicts love, loyalty and enduring friendship. Indeed a sparrow has translated".

In a brief chat with her husband, Mr. Chris Ojeikere described her as not only a wife but a true definition of what a wife should be, stressing that she was an epitome of gratefulness, gentleness and adorably submissiveness.

"For submissiveness, you had no second address. Your life laid with your husband until God separated us - temporarily. I must emphasize! And yes I worshipped that decision of yours! You were my sacred heart and I was yours ".

"I was born a frowning man into this world. My infant photos are uniform on that posture, but you brought in sunshine into the home! And  insisted that as your husband, I must share in it. I had no choice, because you could not live with sunshine under a roof and not be affected by it. Will I be able to retain that now?

Ojeikere thanked those who supported him by way of contributions and valuable time spent  with the family during the programme. He specially thanked those who traveled down from outside Edo State and wished them safe journeys back to their respective places,

Mrs. Idongesit Ojeikere, first daughter of four siblings born to Mr. and Mrs. Okonkwo-Akpan, was born on the 29th of January, 1978 in her home state Akwa Ibom. She attended Immaculate Conception College, Uyo and the University of Calabar, Cross River State.

In 2012  she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Chris Ojeikere. Both of whom consecrated their lives to God in a renewed way, a fact that accounts for their well known closeness.

She was a gifted singer  with a unique sonorous voice. An active and friendly personality with highly skilled organizational abilities. She smiled readily and laughed gaily. She loved and was loved by many who took to her easy going personality.

Sister Idongesit Ojeikere was a loyal wife, submissive and supportive of her husband. They were best friends and inseparable by any other thing but death. She is sorely missed by family and her husband.
