EDO 2024: I 'II Form Inclusive Government If Elected, says PRP Candidate Ndidi Patience Key

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

Leadership is about the people and if the assets we have are not given the opportunity to thrive, it will result to poverty and suffering.

These were the exact words of the Governorship Candidate of the People's  Redemption  Party,  PRP for the forthcoming Edo guber election on September 21st 2024, Ndidi Ofure Patience  Key today in Benin City during the 1st  Memorial Lecture with the Theme: "Towards  A Govt. Of The People By The People And For The People In Nigeria, organized by Chief Dr. David Edebiri's families in collaboration with Castle Of Legends Initiative ( COLI)

She advocated that for the State to move forward it must have an inclusive government where everyone can play their roles and equally have a sense  of  belonging.

She also said that local government  council being the closest arm of government  to the people must be made to function to deliver for the people at the grassroots.

Continuing, she emphasized on civic education and engagement to properly educate the people and give them the opportunity to know their rights in the society.

She said for the people to have trust in government it must create an avenue for accountability and probity. "We must be accountable to the people. We must also commit ourselves deliberately to serve the people well".

"As a former chairman of the Nigeria in the Diaspora in US  I have always worked with the Nigerian government to make my contribution to nation building. I see this election as an opportunity to serve  the great people of Edo. I see poverty everywhere and retrogression. We have to wipe out  poverty because we have the talents and expertise to achieve that".

Ndidi Ofure reiterated her resolve to create a furniture village in Edo and raise huge revenue to the coffers of the state stressing however that awareness must be created first to achieve that.

She however, said we lack the right leadership and it is the reason we are suffering. She said we must change our heart in this coming election by avoiding making mistakes that can cost the state gravely.

The Chairman of the occasion , Godwin Ehigiamusoe had earlier said that the occasion was organized to celebrate a man who contributed immensely to Nigeria as a nation.

He described him as a man of  many parts and  values , adding that  to keep the values alive is to see how we  can  concretize them for the betterment of the generality of the people.

On his part, the eldest son of  late Chief David Edebiri,  Rev. Dr. Felix Edebiri asked a rhetorical question as to the reason politicians are contesting the coming Edo guber election in the state citing the present suffering in the state  and for which the politicians don't seem to have an answer for.

He appreciated the people who have continued to support the family since the death of their father. He said with the support of all,  they can continue with the vision of his late
father.

He specifically thanked Ndidi Ofure Key whom he recognized as the only female candidate in the Edo governorship race and thanked her for honouring the family with her presence.
