EDO 2024: I Will Complete Abandoned Projects That Have Economic Value To The People When Elected, says Akpata

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

The governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the forthcoming Edo Governorship election, Olumide Akpata Esq has charged journalists in the country to play their role by helping the nation to bring out those responsible for the mismanagement of the country's  resources which eventually brought the nation's economy to its knees.

He made this appeal  yesterday  during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State, Council's secretariat , Benin City.

He promised to continue to partner with the union through out his campaign period, adding that he has so far visited the three Senatorial districts in attempt to sell his programs to Edo people to win their votes.

"I emerged as candidate on the 23rd of February, 2024.  We are ready for the election. We are people centric and people focused. We have a program that will impact the lives of the people. It is clear that things have never been so bad as it is today. Here is where Labour Party will come in".

Akpata made reference to the  Abia State Governor, Mr. Alex Otto whom he praised to be doing excellently well among the governors in the country, adding that it is that style of governance that will be replicated in Edo if elected as the governor of Edo State by improving positively in the lives of the people.

Continuing, he admitted that there is hunger in the land and therefore promised to work with the farmers where government will encourage them with credit facilities and equally off-take their farm produce which the government will resell to the public at affordable prices.

On security, he said it is the duty of the government to ensure lives and property are safe, especially those who engage in farming, as that is the only way we can achieve our target of being food secured in the country which will eventually wipe away hunger in the land.

He also said that availability of power is critical in building a viable economy in the state, because without electricity small scale and other businesses will not survive, adding that within a period of one year in office, they will make a significant progress in that area.

On abandoned or uncompleted projects by his predecessor as it may be, Akpata said if he is elected and identified any one that has economic value to the people, he will complete it in record time for the benefit of all.
