She pointed out that the fallen trees, which led to the loss of lives, were a stark reminder of the neglected state of public safety measures and infrastructure maintenance.

“These avoidable incidents should not be occurring. It’s a clear indication that our infrastructure is in dire need of attention,” she added.

The Edo Governorship hopeful vowed to make significant improvements in the state’s infrastructure if elected governor. She proposed a comprehensive plan that includes regular maintenance of public amenities, rigorous inspections of-risk areas, and the implementation of advanced warning systems for extreme weather conditions.

According g to the stament, her plan also involves enhancing the state’s emergency response capabilities to ensure swift and effective action during such crises.

“Part of my plan is to ensure that public amenities are regularly maintained and that areas prone to natural disasters are inspected and reinforced. "

“We need to implement advanced warning systems that can alert residents of imminent dangers, giving them enough time to seek safety.”

Key’s proposal also includes the establishment of a dedicated emergency response unit equipped with modern technology and trained personnel. She believes this will significantly improve the state's ability to respond to emergencies promptly and efficiently.

“We need a robust emergency response system that can act quickly and effectively in times of crisis. This is non-negotiable,” she asserted.

Furthermore, Key emphasized the importance of community involvement in disaster preparedness and response. She plans to initiate educational programs to inform and train residents on how to respond to emergencies. “Educating our people on emergency preparedness is crucial. We need to empower them with the knowledge and skills to protect themselves and their families,” she said.

The PRP candidate also addressed the broader issues of climate change and environmental sustainability, noting that these factors contribute to the increasing frequency of severe weather events. She pledged to integrate sustainable practices into her infrastructure plan to mitigate the impact of climate change. “Climate change is a reality we must face. By incorporating sustainable practices, we can reduce our vulnerability to these natural disasters,” Key stated.

Key's determination to improve infrastructure and emergency services is part of her broader vision for a safer and more resilient Edo State. She assured the people of Edo that her administration would be proactive in safeguarding lives and property, ensuring that the state is better prepared to handle natural disasters. “My administration will prioritize the safety and well-being of our residents. We will be proactive, not reactive, in addressing these issues,” she affirmed.
