EDO 2024: Tinubu 's Appointment Of PDP Members Into Positions Ploy To Humiliate Us, says Edo APC Members

By Ehichioya Steve Odion

As the Edo All Progressives Congress, APC, is battling with the present poor outing of its Governorship candidate, Sen. Monday Okpebholo in the ongoing electioneering campaign, there is strong anger and dis-affection among members of the party  due to recent appointments of some PDP members into federal government establishment by President  Bala Tinubu.
The APC members described such action by President  Tinubu as a calculate attempt to discourage them from working sincerely for the party.

A source close to the leadership of the party in the state said they see such appointments of PDP members into key positions of federal establishments as a way to humiliate those who worked for Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general elections and also for those presently working day and night for the party's governorship candidate Monday Okpebholo.

They queried the rational behind giving appointments to PDP members  who have not officially joined their party, not to talk of joining them in the  ongoing campaign rallies in the state.

The source further said that the action of President Tinubu has started causing problems in the party as it is capable of eroding the confidence they have in the party' and its candidate in Edo State.

You will recall that  the Minister of the Federal Capital, Nyeson Wike was the first PDP beneficiary from Tinubu's administration, followed by Chief Dan Orbih, Chairman  Governing Council, College of Education Technical, Umunze, Anambra State  and the most recent one given to former House of Representatives member who was appointed as  Executive Director Niger Delta Power Holding Company.

They said if President Tinubu has the courage to exhibit this kind of attitude at this critical time they are battling to sell their candidate, Monday Okpebholo to the people of Edo State despite the hardship and suffering of the masses, tells that the president has little or no regards for members of APC.

The APC members are not particularly happy with the leadership of the party in the state as well because they refuse to speak out on the issue. They said if things continue this way, many of them are ready to back out of the campaign and leave it for those Tinubu is presently giving appointments to.

They also expressed their discomfort over the present action of President Tinubu, adding that it was a sign that even if their candidate wins the  Edo governorship election, they may equally be sidelined om appointments.

They therefore called on the leadership of the party in the state to quickly look into the issue, adding that if nothing is done to address the matter raised, it may snowball into a crisis that may consume the party before the September 21 election.

However, the source said that if the issue is not resolve as quickly as possible it simply means that the leadership of the party in Edo State are taking the members for granted.
