Asue Ighodalo, a legal luminary, technocrat, business mogul and politician per excellence is the candidate of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the forthcoming September 21st 2024 gubernatorial election.
Since Ighodalo joined the governorship race as an aspirant and up to the period he got the ticket of the PDP, he has been a subject of discussion in every gathering of men, women and youths across the state. The reason is simple. Ighodalo became a unifier in his party which he also extended to other political parties in the state because he believes that political parties are not meant to divide the people but rather to unite them for purposes of governance.
Many see him as a down to earth personality who despite his status in the society has remained an epitome of humility, loving and empathetic. They also see him as someone who does not discriminate irrespective of age or what ever position they hold in the society.
Many also see him as one who will be accessable even when he finally becomes the governor of the state because they believe strongly that such a person cannot easily be carried away by ephemeral nerves of power.
Many have equally seen the love and care that radiates from his person, especially when he is in the midst of the down trodden. They said some of the photographs and videos seem so far have proven that severally, especially the day he met with some physically challenged persons in the state he could not hold back his emotion and started shedding tears. That is how far he has gone in sharing love with the people.
Ighodalo has since been the delight of the youths in Edo State as he often engages them in the area of sports where he had to physically play football and other sports with them. What can be more delightful than the sight of such a caliber of person interacting freely with adolescents and young adults in the field of play.
Women, especially market women have also seen him as a source of joy whenever Asue Ighodalo meet them in market places and their homes in some cases. You know the best way to describe the mood these women would be when they find themselves in this kind of situation. Your guess is as good as mine, it will be dancing and singing all the way.
The elderly among the people have decided to choose the way of prayers for Asue Ighodalo whom they always refer to as their son. No mother or father would want his or her son to fail in any venture. Therefore, every little period he spends with them is always accentuated by prayers and good wishes.
Some say they wouldn't stop looking deep into his inner eye whenever he talks and make promises to the people, making them realize that electing him into office will mark the beginning of a social contract with them. They said they have no option than to believe him due to the enthusiasm that follows such engagement with the people.
Asue Ighodalo's election and campaign has since become a movement in the state and talk of the town which the people believe will translate to victory come September 21st this year.
Above all, many already see Ighodalo as the governor elect even though election had not been officially conducted, simply because of the way he speaks, the way he acts, the passion he has for good governance and his anxiousness to hit the ground running as elected governor.
