The recent outburst by the former Edo state governor, Adams Oshiomhole against the Edo state governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo and the Esan nation, on the Arise Television has spelt doom for former labour leader and chieftain of the All Progressives Party (APC) in the September 21 guber election in the state.
From indications this singular act will result to his defeat and that of his party in the oncoming governorship election. This will certainly lead to his weeping thereafter.
The reason is simple, Oshiomhole has been making all efforts to forcefully assumed the political leader in Edo State after the death of a political hero, Chief Tony Anenih of blessed memory, who incidentally a valuable son of the Esan nation. Anenih validated the saying that leaders are born and not made, unlike Oshiomhole who is fighting to be a leader.
This quest by Oshiomhole - to be a leader - has been his undoing and frustration which many gullible Edo people are yet to understand. But for those who are politically inclined, this time around, are saying no to this inordinate ambition. It can't be.
Recall, he has always lost in every election in Edo since he left office as governor. In this coming election, it will not be different.
Also, remember in an attempt to remain relevance after he left power as a governor he gang up against the former National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun when he was forcefully removed and he replaced him.
There is a saying that when you wrong an elderly person and he pronounced a kind of what look like blessing in disguise there is always a repercussion that will befall such a person. That was the story of Oshiomhole. I guess you all know how he was humiliated out of office, not just by Edo person but his kinsman, Stephen Oshawo who came from his political ward in Etsako West Local Government.
Also recall, during the APC primary he again failed woefully in an attempt to manipulate the exercise and impose Hon. Dennis Idahosa from Edo South on the people of Edo State while those who mean well for the state, considered justice and equity and resisted him. He failed woefully with Monday Okpebholo winning the primary.
For those who know Adams Oshiomhole too well predicted that he would not mind making a u-turn due to his desperation for power to agree to work for the candidate he earlier rejected during the primary. This is the reason he has made himself a spokesperson for Monday Okpebholo even though such appointment does not exist in the campaign council list.
He wants to prove to the APC governorship candidate that is the one that is doing the campaign in order to displace those who originally supported Okpebholo in order take their place.
Adams Oshiomhole is still living in his past glory thinking that it is business as usual. For this he will run down to Benin City to climb on top of vehicle and moving around without notice by those he used to deceive by one man one vote he initiated to manipulate the gullible ones.
I think it is time for those who are close to him to begin to educate him if he cares to listen that his time has long passed, because the people of Edo State having known all his tricks have since restricted him to Edo North while effort is been made by the Akoko Edo and Owan axis to push him to Etsako where his political influence will be permanently subjected to for others to grow.
Oshiomhole must allow Edo people to breath politically so that those who mean well for the progress of the state should be allowed to come up and govern the state. Especially those who are intelligent with capacity to turn the state's economy around to do so without putting obstacle.
It is time for well meaning Edo people to come out in this coming election to wage war against Oshiomhole's deception and propaganda which has existed for to long.
While Oshiomhole is so desperate in this dispensation is due to the unknown, as from a reliable source indicates that there are strong forces to displace him and deny him from getting his second tenure ticket to go back to the national assembly in Edo North who are already working day and night to achieve that.
Whatever Oshiomhole is doing towards the coming election should not been taken seriously and let no one sympathise with him as all actions is for his own interest which will never benefit the residents of Edo state. Is a battle he has to fight to remain relevant in the politics of Edo State.
