The Managing Director of Independent Television and Radio, Engr. Elvis Agbonifo Obaseki, has disclosed that the just concluded ITV and Radio Town Hall meeting was never a debate by political parties, but an interaction designed to engage the polity and enable issue based electoral process.

The keynote lecture was delivered by the reknowed Professor of history and international studies, Prof. Eddy Erhagbe and Professor Cyril Otoikhian of Novena University as chairman of the event.

He made this disclosure in a press release personally signed and made available to The Groove Watch News shortly after the event in Benin City.

He reiterated that it was a corporate social responsibility that was being carried out by the organization in order to contribute to the electoral process as regards the Edo Gubernatorial election.

"ITV and Radio's gubernatorial Debate for candidates is slated for Thursday September, 12th for Deputies Governorship Candidates, while Governorship Candidates Debate holds on Friday 13th, 2024".

Engr. Obaseki also disclosed that political parties with elected candidates in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria have been duly invited to the 2-day gubernatorial Debate.

"Edo State belong to us all and we remain unrepentant stakeholders seeking a sub national with its pride of place in our dear country.

"The Nigerian Democratic project is a work in progress and needs the support of us all".

Engr. Obaseki said there cannot be an election town hall meeting without the active participation and representation of political parties, citizenry and civil society organizations.
