Former Edo LP Guber Aspirant Asha Okojie Loses Mother

Amb.  Princess Asha Okojie, a former Labour Party (LP) gubernatorial aspirant for the Edo 2024 election  has lost her  mother, Mrs. Lucy Okojie.

The Guber aspirant  few months ago lost her  father, Hon. Prince Albert Okojie making the lost of her mother a  double tragedy of losing  two figures who played vital roles in both her live and the political history of Edo State.

On Behalf of Family said Princess Lucy Okojie (née Ovonlen) died on the 8th of August, 2024 at the age of  75 .

 The late okojie was the widow of Hon. Prince Albert Okojie  of the Royal Kingdom of Uromi and Chief Gabriel Ovonlen of Amendorhian in Esan North East LGA.

 
Princess Okojie, widely known for her advocacy on political inclusivity, has consistently credited her late mother with being key inspiration in her decision to run for the office. "Mrs. Lucy Okojie was a steady source of encouragement, wisdom, and support, shaping her daughter’s education, professional path, and political journey.

"My mother had a big heart, and her belief in service, fairness, and justice was the cornerstone of everything I have striven to do in my life.
"She was not only my greatest supporter but also my best friend. We spent a lot of quality time together, and she always remained by my side. She taught me kindness, to fight for the voiceless, and to prioritize the people's needs above personal gain. Her wisdom and counsel were invaluable, and she will be greatly missed." Princes Okojie emphasized.

In 2023, Princess Okojie made headlines when she advocated for equity and inclusiveness, challenging the high costs of the Labour Party’s Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, especially for women. Her advocacy for the protection of children, and persons with disabilities in the nation's scheme of things is well documented.


Princess Asha Okojie remains steadfast in her advocacy for policies that uplift marginalized communities, a passion deeply rooted in the values her late mother instilled in her. Mrs. Lucy Okojie’s empathy, kindness, and commitment to the service of others will forever be remembered as guiding influences in her daughter’s life and political career.
