Former Edo governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and only female candidate in the last governorship election Ndidi Key Ofure, has charged the Governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo to ensure he builds a viable and sustainable economy that will pull Edo people out of this present hardship being faced by them.

She made this admonition  today   on the popular ITV programme, Politics Today relayed on both Radio and TV.

Ndidi who joined the program from the United States of America, said any one who comes Into government for governance purposes must build human capital which can translate into production and enhance standard of living for the people.

"Good road system for the transportation of goods and services is key. Therefore, Edo State government must work with the Federal Government to ensure all federal roads are done. I have no doubt that if done, it will contribute immensely to the development of the state and help the people to do their businesses successfully. Also, agriculture is key. Because if good agricultural system is not put in place, it can lead to mass poverty which will also lead to hunger in the land".

She emphasized the importance of good drainage system in the state capital, Benin City, adding that if proper drainage is put in place, it would go far in saving lives and properties which could have been lost to flooding. She said the poor drainage system in the city now is putting its residents in danger because it is already causing havoc  as  lives and properties are being lost when it rains heavily.

On whether she would like to serve in the coming administration of Sen. Monday Okpebholo if call upon to do so, she said there is nothing wrong if she's called to serve her people. She however said she would not like to serve under a chaotic environment, adding that if she has a transparent government to serve in, she wouldn't hesitate to put in her best.

"But if the governor is surrounded by those who are not genuinely ready to help the government to succeed in the direction of ensuring better living condition for the people, I will not be part of such a government.

On the state of the nation, the former Governorship candidate said there seems not to be an end to the deteriorating situation in Nigeria occasioned by the lack of visionary leadership which has eluded the country for a very long time.

She said what you see this day in Nigeria is blam game, where  the present government is lamenting and blaming the past governments as the cause of its inability to make a head way in the economy recovering path it has cut for itself, others are blaming the administration of lacking in vision.

Ndidi queried, why someone who has no idea of how government works would come out in the first case and asked the people to vote for him or her? She said the people are faced with hardship and suffering today simply because the leaders in the helm of affairs have no idea of what to do to fix the country's economy.

She said our leaders lack the will to do what is right to put things in proper shape, but instead they do what will benefit their god fathers who have no feelings and sympathy for the suffering Nigerians. She advised those politicians who have no value to add to governance to stay out of it.

She stressed the  need to encourage effective private sector participation in the nation's economy through friendly policies from the government because according to Ndidi, they have a lot to contribute to the economy of the country. She said a situation where government policies are hash, the private sector will finds it difficult to operate. She said we should not forget that it is private sector that creates more jobs in any economy.

"The private sector can build viable economy. But the present policies of government are pushing them away from business and it is affecting the people through lack of jobs"

Above all she said the government must do everything at its disposal to put a stop to the insecurity that is presently ravaging the country due to inccesant killings across the country.
