My mission in Edo is to stamp out acts of criminalities --Police Commissioner

The new Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Betty Nekpen Isokpan has declared that her mission in the State is to drastically reduce crime and acts of criminalities to make it safe for  all.

She made this disclosure today during her courtesy visit to the leadership and members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council at the State Secretariat complex in Benin City.

She asserted that the command under her leadership will ensure a fair and firm security atmosphere that  will supports business growth and development as well as be a centre of attraction for visitors.

She sued for the cooperation and support of journalists and residents in the State to enable her deliver on her charge to making the State safe for all.

She advised landlords in the state to be careful not to give out their houses to  criminals to rent, especially kidnappers,  in order not to lose such houses through demolition in line with the State's anti kidnapping law in the State.

She also said that  policing is a collective responsibility involving everyone in the society, as information from the public to police is very critical in combating crimes. "Let everyone be involved. If you decide to hid a criminal you may be the next victim. 

She promised to work with the body of Journalists in order to succeed in her assignment.

On his part, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe assured the Police Commissioner of the union's support in the area of coverage of her command's activities in the state.

He also appealed to the commissioner    to ensure journalists are allowed to carry out their jobs without being obstructed by her officers.
