These days it has become a herculean task for political office holders to score pass mark in the areas of competency, accountability, trust and humility, in the exam hall of the mass of Nigerians as records has shown that many public office holders have failed to live up to their billing.

As a result of this, the people who decide the fate of political aspirants should ensure due diligence in scrutinizing them for participation in order to ascertain their capabilities and to also know if they have earned the trust of the people they intend to serve.

The forthcoming Edo Central Senatorial election will be a litmus test for the aspirants contesting the election as stakeholders set the tone for a result oriented poll.

Talking about trust which is a key factor in politics and governance Hon John Yakubu can be said to be far ahead his co-contestants having display a dose of the rare quality of leadership over the years.

His willingness and determination to tackle the challenges of governance is top notch and it's believed that he will bring them to bear when he becomes elected in the Edo Central Senatorial bye-election.

Having the trust of the people is not what comes easy. It comes with a determination to sacrifice for the benefit of the people whose welfare constitutes the primary purpose of governance. Hon Yakubu has since realized the importance of this virtue of sacrifice and had cultivated same for several decades even from his childhood days.

As for competency, Hon Yakubu is one that has proven himself as are visible in some of his positive exploits in delivering on assigned tasks both in his private and public life. Coming up with result oriented ideas that uplift  his trademark.

Humility  these days is a very rare virtue one can find amongst politicians. This is one area Hon Yakubu is markly different from his peers. While others usually put up a facade of the virtue while on a campaign turf to win votes, the virtue naturally radiates from Hon Yakubu. He is not given to snubbing people, nor given to paying less attention to them. He embraces all shades of persons.

For those who know and are familiar with John Yakubu's political history and activities know that he has since conquered every impediment that could work against achieving his current political bid. He has a pass mark to contest the Senatorial election with the trust of the people.

The discussion is already in the public domain in the zone that this contest is not going to be about political party but will zero on individuals' ability and competency which have directly given John Yakubu the edge among others contenders.

So, this coming election is not going to be business as usual where they push for none competent, unqualified and those who lack public trust to come in. Because  records has shown that if such people are allowed to come through the back door, it is usually result in non performance in their respective offices and the people will be at the receiving end.

Therefore, the people must insist on competence, trust, accountability before you can present yourself to be voted for in the forthcoming Senatorial poll.
