As the bye-election to fill the vacant position of the Edo Central Senatorial District is gradually approaching, it has become imperative for the entire people in the zone to carefully look inward in choosing the right person for the job.
Irrespective of the political divide, the Esan people deserve the very best among the arrays of persons currently vying for the position.
Political researchers and stakeholders in the zone in particular and the state in general believe and are unanimous in having a competent and vibrant voice that will make the zone and Edo State in general proud.
In that wise, they are calling for a straight nomination of the former chairman of Esan North East Local Government Council and former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP in 2016 Edo governorship election, Hon. John Yakubu.
Research also shows that the aspiration to become the next senator in Edo Central did not actually come from him but from the generality of the people in the area who have been yearning to have a formidable person to give them quality representation at the National Assembly which will translate to massive dividends of Democracy.
It is a known fact that John Yakubu is a household name in the political history of Edo State, and the people are calling for his endorsement for the senatorial ticket as a prelude to birthing quality and results oriented representation at the Senate.
His pedigree as an astute politician, administrator placed him over and above his opponents in the race. His remarkable achievements as chairman, Esan North East Local Government council, speak volume and has endeared him to many who believe in his capacity to mobilize men and material resources to improve the lives of the people.
The above stated qualities are second to none thus making him the only person that is presently gaining the trust of the people.
Getting a person who can stand very tall to speak at the red chamber of the National Assembly is not meant for jokers but persons with depth of knowledge, intelligence, courage and self confidence to earn the trust and confidence of Nigerians at this critical period in our nation's development trajectory, we should look the way of Hon John Yakubu.
Having demonstrated that when he served as local government council chairman in Edo State as he was the spokesperson and hope of other chairmen during his tenure, especially when there were burning issues that affected Edo ALGON then.
Yakubu won the hearts of Edo people when as a local government council chairman resisted and wholeheartedly rejected the illegal deductions of allocation meant for Esan North East Local Government Council where he served as chairman by the then Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole while other local government chairmen accepted the illegal deductions due to blind loyalty and fear of the governor.
Since then John Yakubu's political history has been growing steadily and has become a rally point for up coming politicians in the state. They also see some of his actions then as someone whose boldness, courage and intelligence flow in his blood and therefore worthy of emulation.
We have no doubt that when he gets the nomination ticket from his political party, the PDP, Edo Central will embrace him and vote for him overwhelmingly in respective of the political party under which he is contesting.
More reasons Edo Central would like to settle for John Yakubu to be the next Senator to represent them will be unfolded as we progress in selling his candidacy to the people of Esanland.
